Sleepy Head

I have spent most of today asleep. Can't really remember anything else or what I did yesterday.

We have had lots of nursing support which has been great. Had no idea it was available. But have had two phone calls from the community matrons today as well as the visit from the my hospice nurse, I mean Ann, yesterday. So having felt very lost at weekends and generally a few weeks ago, we do feel a lot more supported. And we are very grateful.

In my waking hours this evening I am alarmed by the amount of rugby on the TV. I have done well over the years to learn about football I think. But rugby I struggle. I know that won't be a popular call but just the way I am.

How long until Wimbledon is on until I can get my own back?

Fed-up-ville

There are things to blog about but not sure I want to right now. The line between private and blog is a fine one. But one which I am in control of. Maybe there are things I will write about of the last few days when I am feeling like I can gather my thoughts better.

Let's just say I am not feeling well and bloomin fed up with it.

Hence living in fed-up-ville.

Think I need to find something else to blog about in the meantime. It is hard when I have spent days now in this place. I am missing the winter Olympics. It got me through quite a few days. It's all quite crazy though. Our girl Amy Williams got gold in the skeleton bob sleigh. This basically means she lay on her stomach on a tray with some runners on the bottom. The then hurled herself as fast as she could down the bob sleigh run. Seriously. Crazy stuff. Well done her though.

Water biscuit anyone?

Well done United

At last. I hear you had a good game.

Well done Wayne Rooney especially. 4 goals. The boy did good. And I am personally grateful to you for raising my husband's hopes for the league.

I am told we are big fans of Manchester United but not big fans of the Glazers. I don't understand the debt issues, but I hear they are not good. I haven't actually tried to understand them to be fair, but as a qualified, all be it not practicing, Chartered Accountant, I maybe should be able to get my head around it.

All I know is that if you are a true fan then you didn't wear your red and black United scarf to the match today. You wore green and gold.

Any one know the significance of green and gold?

New Years Resolution Number 157

Get on my bike.

Am just back from a cold but lovely bike ride in Richmond Park. I looked out the window this morning while reading the Sunday paper and decided it was too nice a blue sky to miss out the park today. Not been on my bike in far too long. It was really lovely. Look what I live next to:

It's not always easy to get in the zone of just enjoying what is. Of seeing other people, out and about, whom I presume don't live with elephants.

But I feel good for the fresh air and the exercise. And the park is a good place be.

And yikes. United are 1-0 down to Leeds at Old Trafford right now...come on United. Sort it out. Otherwise I will have a grumpy husband return home later. And I don't think pictures of deer and talk of bike rides will lift his spirits.

Craven Cottage - Fulham V Manchester United

Those who know me, know very quickly that Jon's second love in life is Manchester United. His first is of course moi. So life involves lots of trips to Old Trafford for Jonny at weekends, and the occasional away game too.

This weekend the away game was at Fulham. Only a few miles from our home. I have suggested on more than one occasion that it would make far more sense to support a local team, but apparently it just doesn't work like that.

I rarely go to the games, but I did put in a request for a ticket for this one. My parents are both originally from Fulham. My grandparents lived on one of the roads very close to Craven Cottage, and as a child I was always very curious what the football ground was like inside. So, it was a bit of nostalgia for me to walk through Bishops Park up to the ground. I haven't been to this part of town for a few years.

And this is what it looks like the other side of those big black gates I used to look at as a child:

Terrible score: 3-0 to Fulham. And it was absolutely FREEZING. Seriously I had to defrost when I got home. Good to see cousin Rob briefly though, and to satisfy childhood curiosity and take a bit of a trip down memory lane.

Joe wins the X factor

Not that much of a surprise and well done Joe.

I didn't actually watch the final show as the other JC had made it quite clear that we were watching BBC Sports personality of the year. We did do a little flicking - which at times made it seem as though Andrew Flintoff was presenting the X factor.

Anyway, there was far more elation in our house that Ryan Giggs won BBC Sports Personality of the year. As the wife of an avid Manchester United fan I was pleased too. He seemed genuinely humbled and shocked to have won. And in my VERY basic knowledge of football he always seems like a pretty good player to me.

Well done Ryan. Now get back to Old Trafford and score some goals - looks like Chelsea are running away with the league and that is not good. I will be cheering for the reds at Fulham at this weekend.
